Italy shows its willingness to accelerate the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria and announces 30% increase of its contribution to the Global Fund for 2017-2019

Friends of the Global Fund Europe applauds the announcement of the increase of the Italian contribution to the Global Fund. With an amount of 130 million Euros for the GF over the period 2017-2019, Italy  shows its willingness to accelerate the fight against the three diseases in order to end them by 2030.

« With this announcement, Italy shows the way leading to a more equitable world for all, especially the youth, women and girls, and the most vulnerable populations » says Stefano Vella Director of pharmacology department at the Instituo Superiore di Sanita and Vice chair of Friends of the Global Fund Europe. « With this decision, Italy confirms its critical role in the Global Fund in order to foster access to treatment, care and prevention, and to save million lives more ».
