Le dernier rapport sur l’état d’avancement des Objectifs de Développement Durable (ODD), publié le 25 avril 2023, dresse un tableau préoccupant, avec seulement 12% des 169 cibles des ODD en bonne voie et des progrès au point mort ou inversés sur plus de 30% des objectifs.

Les reculs sont notamment dus aux tensions politiques croissantes et aux multiples crises. Mais aussi, très largement, au manque de financements. En juillet 2023, António Guterres, Secrétaire général de l’ONU, a rappelé que « le déficit annuel de financement des objectifs de développement durable [était] désormais estimé à 4,2 trillions de dollars – contre 2,5 trillions avant la pandémie ».

Face aux tensions actuelles, la santé mondiale nous offre des exemples de solutions efficaces pour penser la protection des biens publics mondiaux.

The report on the progress of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), published on April 25, 2023, paints a concerning picture, with only 12% of the 169 SDG targets on track and progress stalled or reversed on over 30% of the objectives.

The setbacks are primarily attributed to increasing political tensions and multiple crises. Moreover, they are largely a result of inadequate funding. In July 2023, António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, emphasized that « the annual funding gap for sustainable development goals is now estimated at 4.2 trillion dollars, up from 2.5 trillion before the pandemic. »

Amidst the current tensions, global health provides us with effective solutions to consider the protection of global public goods.
